World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for instance 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with less upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.
A boost upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
The player is able to have the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will drop during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much it will improve after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. item upgrading is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chance of failure, and some upgrades that provide the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 whenever you can.
In the endgame you'll find that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is to place Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and give a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with another Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs to be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is best to put Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. item upgrades will maximize the impact. For instance an Druid should aim to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but also consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The item upgrade system allows players to increase the power of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough points are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrade a piece of equipment, the base item will be replaced with a new item. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This can be a disadvantage, as it can make the item more expensive if you do not require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides buffs when the player repeatedly enters or exits water. This item can be upgraded multiple times by increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is very valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to return to its initial state and the player having to purchase more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained like the chance to crit damage to attack, other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or reloading speed). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost that it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to the value of the base item. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player will need to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients for upgrading.
