What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

In addition to the stat boosts Certain upgrades can give a random secondary boost. These secondary boosts can be extremely valuable and must be considered when deciding on which items to upgrade. Certain boosts can only be used in certain builds (such a Whistan's Shield for FB Sorcs) While others are beneficial to collectors.
Some items have an inherent boo that is less useful when upgraded, for example the Goldwrap that gives you extra potion slots. These are often upp'd to increase the value of a perfect or near-perfect item.
Costs
Upgrades have a few associated costs. The first is the cost to perform the upgrade. It can be costly and is dependent on the new value of the item and the number perks it gains. Upgrades to higher levels (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) can be expensive.
The other is the cost of the materials required for an upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21and over) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing certain Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). The amount of these materials required is available in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.
The process of upgrading an item is complicated and requires time. Depending on the size of the upgrade, it could take anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. The stats that are the base of the upgraded item are calculated based upon its new ilvl and other characteristics. This calculation determines the new Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other crucial stats. In some instances the upgrade can grant additional advantages that can be picked from a variety of advantages.
Rarely, the benefits gained will cost more than one perk slot to acquire In these instances the upgrade will replace the most expensive perks. The upgrader can also make other adjustments to the item, such as changing the type of damage it deals to its weapon, or adding or removing an operative or unwieldy option. These modifications are based on an item's ilvl, and may require special materials, for instance adamantine.
Success Rate
The process of upgrading an item is dependent on chance. Like any random system, there is a possibility that it won't succeed. However there are some things that can help to increase the chance of success. This includes the use of an Upgrade Pity or adding additional materials to your upgrade.
The Upgrade Pity can be purchased through the NPC for smithing in Lost Ark. It increases the chance of an upgrade succeeding by a certain percentage. It is similar to the luck bonus that certain items offer but is more reliable. It can be added to any armor or weapon and can be used up to three times.
It is also possible to add a range of additional materials to the upgrade, thereby increasing its chances of success. The materials are displayed in a window located above the + button. There are however limitations to this, and the maximum amount of material that can be added is shown right above the + button in the user interface.
Another method to increase the odds of an upgrade succeeding is to use an item called a Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item is useful if your weapon or piece is nearing or has reached the maximum level of its tier. This item allows you to upgrade the equipment to the next level without risking its breaking.
If an upgrade fails the system will be returned to its original state. This is usually an upgrade, but it could also be an upgrade. You should save an upgrade until you're close to the highest level for an item.
